AZ'S Best, was founded by John Kresl and Mike Spray, in June of 2006 to provide an alternative to recreation basketball for those girl's who were a little more serious about the game and their development.

John and Mike wanted to come up with a plan that would get the kids on their team maximum exposure to the college's and get them as prepared as possible to be ready for:
1) High School
2) College opportunities
3) Tournaments at the highest level possible, including nationals.

Mike Spray's daughter Michelle had just come back from competing in the U13 National tournament in Missouri/Kansas and felt that every kid should have at least one chance to compete at a tournament with that much electricity, competition and excitement. He set his mind to putting another team of U14 girls to try and qualify for Nationals again.

John Kresl's daughter Lexi was a key member of one of the best U13's team in Arizona and was looking for something different so that his wife Julie who was the coach wouldn't have to coach anymore and could enjoy watching their daughter play. He wanted to send a team of some of the best 13under girl's in the state to the “End of the Trails” tournament in Oregon. With some of the kids on his daughter's team and some of the U13's on Mike Spray's team the went to Oregon and had a very good time coming in 3 rd place.

MISSION STATEMENT
AZ'S BEST girl's basketball is a Family First organization. We feel that although basketball is important and a love for all of the kids that are a part of AZ'S BEST, we remain aware that there are many things that are more long lasting and important in life; Family, Friendships, Education, Character, Determination, and Respect.

VISION STATEMENT
There are three main goals for our AZ'S BEST girl's basketball teams;
1) Play one/two or three tournaments to qualify for AAU 13under Nationals.
2) Play one/two or three tournaments to qualify for AAU 14under Nationals.
3) Play our kids in 17under tournaments after qualifying, to prepare for Nationals, get exposure, and learn to play at the speed expected of high school All-Americans.

Our coaching staff will provide detailed technical instruction, top level coaching, and time in the gym to develop and master basketball skills. The coaches will work with college coaches at all levels to develop relationships to match players with colleges and college scholarships.
